CASL fines can be up to $10,000,000 per violation for corporations and up to $1,000,000 per violations for individuals.

In addition, the law includes the private right of action, effectively giving the recipient of unwanted emails the right to $200 per email sent. The coming into force date has been postponed and is likely to result in class-action lawsuits against the larger brands.
